Northern Light Founfadtion Animal Shelter (NLFAS) 6 Months Old
NLFAS is celebrating our sixth-month anniversary this month since opening on March 5 2022.
Since our opening, NLFAS has taken in 80 animals and helped locate their owners, or find new homes for these animals.
NLFAS has used about 5.6 tons of food since our opening to feed these animals and approximately 3600 Gallons of water to bathe these animals and provide them with water.
We urge the community to contact us should their animals run away to ensure that these animals can be returned to their owners.
NLFAS also has a strict adoption process that works as follows: first, an application form must be completed; if your application is accepted, a home visit is done by our volunteers to ensure that your home is suitable and safe for the animal you wish to adopt; thereafter we arrange for you to meet the animal and sign the final contract as well as pay adoption fee of R200-00 (plus the costs for deworming and vaccinations if necessary).
The animal care centre is run in collaboration with Kromdraai Kennels, on the premises of Kromdraai kennels.
The purpose of the animal care center is to help animals that live on the street and do not have a home. The community is urged to drop off animals they pick up and see walking around at the center. NLF will ensure that this remains the main goal and that the animal care centre does not become a place where animal owners who no longer want their animals do not just come to drop off by putting strict processes and procedures in place.
The animal care center currently has space to house about 4 dogs and 10 cats that are already full. We would like to expand the capacity to help more animals, but need the community’s help for this. Any donations in the form of building materials or finances can be made to NLF.
